Job Description

The Assembly, Weld and Test Technician is a key role in the development and series manufacture of xEV traction battery modules. The role will cover the development and successful launch of the assembly, welding and testing processes and methods in readiness for developing the required skills and capabilities for series manufacturing.

Hyperbat is a new joint venture, which combines the strengths of William Advanced Engineering and Unipart Manufacturing. Hyperbat will be opening a new facility on Unipart Powertrain Applications site later this year. The new Company and factory will begin production of batteries in 2019 for the first customer Aston Martin. We now have a number of exciting opportunities for employees to be part of the future of the automotive industry. All roles are based at UPA, Coventry.

   Key responsibilities will include:

  • Work with the team to develop a highly capable welding and testing manufacturing cell to meet all Safety, Quality, Cost and Delivery targets, from pilot build stage through to operation of series manufactured products
  • An understanding of spot welding thin gauge metals using Micro TIG
  • Setup and operate the pilot build manufacturing and testing equipment to support the development of series production welding parameters and testing machine settings

The successful candidate will have experience of a lean manufacturing environment and continuous improvement methodologies. Experience of Weld parameters, Staubli, Motoman and ABB robots is preferred.
