Job Description

Unipart Powertrain Applications has an opportunity for a Programme Manager to join the team. They will ultimately be responsible for the delivery of successful product launches and facilitating engineering changes to meet business and customer targets. The role involves the project management of major customer programmes and the management of critical engineering changes. The position will fully embrace the tools and techniques utilised through the best practice of Unipart group and the use of the UPA Programme Management system to achieve business goals and objectives.

Key Responsibilities will include:

Providing the lead on major programme launches including engineering changes in compliance with the Business Operating System, EHS and the Programme Management system and creating and managing programme plans

Taking lead responsibility to control and achieve programme budgets and operational launch targets are met

Ensuring that pre-production orders are obtained from customer and placed with suppliers for appropriate stages of each project

Manage customer relationships to provide excellent levels of customer service and ensure the timely and accurate supply of information to customer and internally as and when required

Facilitate the cross functional team activities of business functions from project to launch phase, ensuring manufacturing best practice demonstrated on the shop floor

Organise and run project gate reviews according to the key dates agreed at start of the projects

Gain the sign off approval from Senior Management team and close all projects within 3 months after SOP

Manage the escalation of all yellow or red items through Programme and other forums (engineering change management, Senior Programme reviews, gate reviews, customer project reviews) to ensure the timely resolution of project issues

Run and implement major engineering changes to current products within the time frame agreed with the customer

Prepare, maintain and distribute weekly Internal and external reports

Co-ordinate with the prototype department manager for sample orders according to programme requirements.

Support the customer service department in the RFQ quotation phase and pre kick off and lead the actions for kick-off, Gate 1

The successful candidate will be educated to Degree or HND level or equivalent and have a working knowledge of industry standard tools such as FMEA, APQP, DoE, GDT, plus quality tools. Proactive with an ability to seek out commercial opportunities and to secure the delivery of these into the business the successful candidate will have the ability to work to tight deadlines and prioritise workload. With a proven track record in Project Management within a manufacturing environment either at the vehicle manufacturer or a tier one supplier, the successful candidate will also have experience in manufacturing operations or engineering functions and have a working knowledge of manufacturing & commercial principles.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the desire for further personal development and career progression, be confident, able to work under minimal supervision, possess the ability to exercise sound judgement in a high pressure environment and have excellent interpersonal and communication skills. With proven creative problem solving skills the successful candidate will be a results orientated and self-motivated individual with a ‘can do’ attitude and computer literate.
